22/58: Enjoy the A.R.T. of Confrontation
Part 22 of the excerpts from 100 Ways to Motivate Others
When you speak to an employee about behavior or a performance level that is not working for you, experiment using these three letters; ART.
First appreciate and acknowledge the employee for who he/she is. Next, restate your commitment to that person. Lastly, track the agreement.
When an agreement is not kept, both sides need to put the cards on the table in a supportive way to either rebuild the agreement or create a new one.
