WRC Monte-Carlo: Loeb’s +2 minute Cushion
Sébastien Loeb perfect drive secured him a 2 minute 12 seconds lead over 2nd place Danny Sordo and more than three minutes over Ford’s number 2, Petter Solberg.
Dani Sordo is clearly pleased with his day after pulling clear of rival Petter Solberg in the Vercors Mountains as he managed to increase the gap by a further 10 seconds when the Norwegian picked up a slow puncture.
With a lead of 1m16.8s over Solberg, the Spaniard could well kick off his and Mini’s season with a welcome second place.
Mikko Hirvonen is getting comfortable in his DS3 as he posted the fastest time on SS13, closing to within 24 seconds of Solberg and will be targeting a podium finish on tomorrow.
Today, the drivers tackle two loops of two stages (‘Col du Turini’ and ‘Loda-Lucéram’) before Sunday’s Power Stage that will bring the 2012 Monte Carlo Rally to a close.
