A couple of years ago I was at a small car show that I helped organize for the opening of a local restaurant. One of the entries was an original Shelby Cobra, and I was talking to a man who had dropped by with his friend to take a look. So I was busy telling him that the Cobra on display was original (there are so many replicas that most Cobras one sees tend not to be), and his friend chuckled and told me, “Yeah, he has one so he can tell”….I died of embarassment! On display that day was a Superformance GT40…another vehicle with Shelby connections, and out of the sea of Ferrari and Lambos that were present, those two pulled the most people…and were the loudest and most extroverted…kind of like the man himself.
Am yet to have a one on one experience with one… I bet it was an amazing experience.
