News: BMW tri-turbo diesel animation

BMW has released a new promotional video for their tri-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel engine that’ll power their M Performance Automobiles lineup which includes the M550d xDrive Sedan / Touring, X5 M50d and X6 M50d.

“… at low revs, the first small turbocharger ensures fast acceleration” which is optimized by variable turbine geometry. At medium revs, the second turbocharger is activated to maximize torque output. Lastly at high revs, the third turbo comes online to help the engine produce its peak output of 381 PS (280 kW / 375 bhp) and 740 Nm (546 lb-ft) of torque.”

Thanks to all turbochargers, the M550d xDrive sedan accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 4.7 seconds& averages 6.3 L/100km
